The Boys and Girls Club - Targeted Outreach Program (TORP)

Targeted Outreach Program was established in 1997 to serve youth suspended or expelled from school. TORP assists youth in a variety of ways. First by addressing the behavioral problems that resulted in their removal from school, by working to reintegrate the youth into the school and providing follow-up services to avert future expulsion. A goals agreement is completed with each long-term suspended or expelled student. The goals agreement includes goals regarding behavioral difficulties and educational goals.

Program services will be provided at the Boys and Girls Club facility at 2408 E. 21st Street. A program coordinator provides general and daily program oversight and guidance and directs the program. The program coordinator acts as the primary liaison with school counselors and other agencies referring youths to the program.

TORP teachers and case managers provide regular daily programs activities with program participants, including but not limited to; intake an assessment, goal setting, educational instruction, counseling, and follow-up services. Youth will participate on a structured educational schedule Monday through Thursday, with potential community service projects on Fridays.
